Plasmids are small, circular DNA molecules commonly found in bacteria that are used in the molecular biology laboratory for genetic engineering, CRISPR applications, gene therapy, pharmaceutical development, and recombinant DNA technologies. Verifying plasmid quality is therefore important for downstream use, and scientists commonly do this using gel electrophoresis analysis. The Agilent Fragment Analyzer system is an automated parallel capillary electrophoresis instrument that can detect and size different plasmid confirmations such as supercoiled and linearized.
